Who is Leafy ?
Calvin Lee Vail better and preferably known as Leafy is an American born Storyfire, Instagram Blogger, trap enthusiast, talk show host, stock trader, multi-millionaire and former Youtuber, Twitch Streamer and Twitter influencer. Known manly for his commentary videos, skits, storytimes, drug stoytimes, lets plays and edge-lord brand this former Minecraft YouTuber quickly rose up to be one of the most popular commentary YouTubers in history, at one point even growing faster then PewDiePie. He was also known for popularizing the gameplay/commentary format, which soon led to the popularity of similar commentary YouTubers and is still used by many channels today.
Minecraft era
On October 7th 2011, 16 year old Leafy started his YouTube channel mainly posting Minecraft gameplay videos which was usually him fighting people in the ParaPVP server he owned at the time with occasional Fallout 3 lets plays. He did upload commentary videos but they where usually with someone else and would have Minecraft or CS:GO gameplay on top of it. However, in late 2013 he got in an argument with someone, who ended up calling him a "butt muncher" and DDOSed his Minecraft server causing him to have to switch to his commentary content and lean more on CS:GO, Doom ,Overwatch and Cuphead gameplay to put as the visuals instead.
Rise to Fame
In 2013 Leafy uploaded a video called "THE GOOGLE PLUS RANT" in which he rants about Google Plus and how its going to be merged with YouTube's comment section. On July 30th, 2014 he then uploaded his second commentary video talking about the rise of advertising and crowdfunding on Twitch and YouTube. Later that same year, on October 28th, Leafy uploaded a story time video were he tells a story about how he met a pedophile on League Of Legends when he was a kid, which ended up gaining over 1.3 million views in the following year alone. On November 17th, he uploaded a video where he talked about DDOSing which gained over two million views in the following year.
Hiatus
After nearly 2 solid years of daily uploads,during the last few months of 2017 he would upload a multitude of videos saying he was burnt out and frustrated and that he would be going on a few breaks, eventually ending the series of rants on December 12th 2017 Leafy announced he would stop uploading to YouTube util he got his motivation back and stating his reasons why, a main one being changes to the YouTube algorithm making it harder to upload videos and earn money (his only source of income at the time). During his hiatus he would do voice acting for people, go on interviews, help people with their videos and still text/call youtubers like Keemstar, GradeAUnderA and Billy The Fridge. he also stated that during this time he when back to collage to do another degree, a 4 year business course and had ended up becoming a stock trader.
Signs of life
On October 18, 2018, Keemstar posted on Twitter that he was going to interview Leafy soon and uploaded a teaser for the interview on the 24th. On October 25, 2018 the DramaAlert episode titled "The LeafyIsHere 2018 interview" was uploaded. In late October 2019 Leafy showed the first signs of coming back. This was by changing his subscription box from having many YouTubers to just one account. The account was called Crisp and the title of the section was changed to "LITTLE SISTER". Crisp then turned out to be Leafy's younger brother which then resulted in people starting to make rumours that Leafy might make a comeback featuring his brother. On January 26, 2020, Leafy changed his description, removed his brother's account from his home page, changed his banner from "Leafy" to "HELLO" wrote on ms paint and posted on his community tab "Was fun ride, Happy 2020 everyone!". He then made an appearance in Keemstar’s video "Leafy returns to YouTube to talk to Nick Avocado #DramaAlert" where he talks to Nick Avocado about the drama he was in at the time. Omfg ya lol
Leafy's Return To YouTube
On March 31, 2020, Leafy premiered a video simply titled "idubbbz" which featured a clip of IDubbbz saying he thought his girlfriend having an OnlyFans was cool, it then cuts to Leafy as he says the line "Dude, You're a fucking cuck", It cuts to a black screen with "this website is still shit" wrote in white and music playing in the background. After that he appeared on another DramaAlert titled "LEAFY INTERVIEW about iDubbbz & His Return to YouTube! #DramaAlert" where Keemstar asks if Leafy will return with Leafy responding saying he will but will be doing YouTube as a hobby and not seriously. He then started uploading one to two video premiers a week on an irregular schedule, usually on the weekends due to him having a full time job. The first few mainly addressed the people he had drama with back in 2017 like HeyWatchYourMouth, ImAllexx and H3H3Productions, some being apologys and some being him clearing up misinformation. On August 21, 2020, the LeafyIsHere YouTube channel was terminated and 2 days later their second channel LeafyIsntHere was terminated for ban evasion.
StoryFire
On 22nd August, 2020 (after he got banned from YouTube) StoryFire announced on their Twitter and the sites social tab that Leafy was joining StoryFire as a featured creator, quote "Super pumped to announce that @Leafy has officially joined StoryFire! Very unfortunate to see his channel get terminated so now he has a home on the Fire! Be sure to subscribe to him, drop him some Blaze and leave a Hssss on his latest social post!" They then released another post on there Twitter saying "We stand by @Leafy. After pouring years of hard work, creating hundreds of videos, millions of subscribers... All wiped in an instant. Little to no DIRECT communication from the platform he was loyal to for a lifetime. You work things out, don’t just click delete." Leafy confirmed that he was joining by posting on the Storyfire social tab "bro youtube is shit lmfao" and putting the link to his Storyfire account in his Twitter bio and his Twitch bio.
The Leafy Show (Leafys Return To Twitch)
The Leafy Show is a series Leafy had on Twitch where he would manly interview people, talk to fans, talk about current drama, learn about old drama he missed while being off of YouTube and sometimes even play video games. The episodes would usually centre around a certain person getting interviewed or a certain drama getting looked into and would usually start around 10:00 PM - 12:00am EST and would last around one or two hours. Keemstar was usually a second host as well manly since him and Leafy are good friends, no one else would be awake at the time and Keem would usually know a lot about the drama Leafy's looking into. After interviewing the likes of GradeAUnderA, BillyTheFridge, Bashuverse and more he got Leafy was permanently banned on Twitch on September 11, 2020. Before his account was deleted he had over 281,000 followers and averaged 10,000 live viewersterminated and instead became a host for RedBlooms.LLC's YouTube account
Weafy (Leafy's Second Comeback)
On December 23, 2020, Keemstar posted on twitter that Leafy was hired by a company called RedBloom.LLC to be a host and make YouTube videos for their company, and that he was planning on making a video about Pyrocynical and the allegations of Pyro grooming a minor. Leafy then re-tweeted this and put a channel link in his twitter bio, this link was his new YouTube channel "Weafy". The next day on December 24th he put out a new video called "what really happened to leafy" where he talked about what he did after his YouTube ban and why he got a new account. In the video he mentions that the YouTube channel is only part time and that he should start posting on there soon, he clears up what accounts are not real and also talked about how he has faith in RedBloom.LLC and what they where planning to do. What's said in the video is then confirmed by the channel description "Leafy is a content creator hired by RedBloom.LLC, This channel is owned by RedBlooms.LLC". There where only two links connected to this channel, one titled "lol" that links to his merch store Always Lucky and another titled "leafy" which links to his twitter account. The name Weafy was chosen instead of Leafy because he's changing an L to a W (a loss to a win). On December 28, 2020 the Weafy channel was terminated.
Leading up to 2021 Return
Starting on 11th August leafy would start posting on his Instagram. These posts where usually vague and out of context like "i cant fucking sleep", "time for something else" or simple things like "morning" or "new project or travel". When it was storyies the background would just be black and the feed posts would be images like an airport pic from 2017, a plate of pancakes his desk ect.
1st 2021 Return
On the 29th of August 2021 Leafy would post a post on Instagram reading "couldnt sleep so new video i cant link so gl also dont ask about pop filter" with a picture of his desk and a mic with a sock on it. He would then post on his story pictures of a YouTube recent subscriber count. First a picture of the count at 1 subscriber with the caption "first sub sick okay gn". Then a picture of the subscriber count at 7 with the caption "Can't link but 7 subs hype". Then a picture of the count at 54 with the caption "this is going much better then the very first time lol". After this people found his new YouTube account, This account going by the name "Lucky" and having only one video titled "h3h3productions". In this video he talked about H£H£ getting a few strikes on his account, the H3H3 and Keemstar drama, the Keemstar girlfriend drama and the Trisha Paytas drama. The description read ""I would love to see Leafy try and exist in today's current landscape" 🍀 https://twitter.com/LuckyIsntHere 🍀" and going to this link would lead you to his new Twitter page consisting of only on tweet reading "i dont have schizophrenia". He would then one final post on his Instagram story, a picture of the Lucky account subscriber count at 993 with the caption "holy shit lol okay gn fr"
